At Unity Center we offer a positive and practical approach to Spirituality. We embrace the universal truths in Christianity as well as other religions with an emphasis that moves humanity toward oneness through love and forgiveness. Our focus is in creating a healthy relationship with God, which is Love itself through prayer, meditation, and practicing The 5 Principles.

Reno Gazette Journal / Faith Forum Question… Should religion have a say on the future of AI (artificial intelligence)? 5/12/24

AI and religion à la “Mrs. Davis”
Toni King, Spiritual Leader, Unity Center of Reno

Only when led by divine insight should a religious leader speak out against societal norms, like AI. Religious leaders should alert their followers when a foreseeable danger is imminent by inculcating their religion’s tenets, but this doesn’t always translate to the secular. In Unity, we affirm One Power in the universe, God the good, everywhere present. Only Love’s creations have absolute power. That which is created through human ego does not have true power and need not be feared.

The extent of AI’s influence on society remains to be seen, including the formation of AI religions. Via “The Social Dilemma” subculture is Peacock’s “Mrs. Davis”, an AI god who hands out deathly expiration dates to help earth’s citizens find meaning in their lives. If one desires their god to communicate directly from a laptop, AI can accommodate. Do I love this? No. Are AI gods real? No, only Love is.

Reno Gazette Journal / Faith Forum Question… Why we need to practice patience – and when not to be patient? 5/5/24
Spiritual Patience is an Artform
Toni King, Spiritual Leader, Unity Center of Reno
Patience as an artform is a spiritual practice that allows space for the activity of the grace of God in one’s body and affairs. More than a virtue (what you remind someone of while breath-holding and thumb-twiddling ensue), spiritual patience enables the “doorway” of solutions to open, but only when practiced in conjunction with a total and complete letting go of attachment to a desired outcome. That’s right. Let God do God. Our job is to drop the pebble of desire and allow the Universe to conspire for our good. Holding gratitude for what is already yours, knowing you deserve all good things, helps. Then, let what will be, be.
Patience is not an art when used to ignore health of mind, body, and spirit. Please seek appropriate attention from a Healing Arts professional when needed. Do not let a denial of the self become a denial of the Self.
