In a world of shifting values, who defines morality—individual-conscience, religion, or society?

Morality is a choice

We all have a personal code to live by – lines we won’t cross, ideologies we adhere to, ingrained belief systems and imbedded theologies developed over a lifetime. These are some things that inform personal morality and our sense of what is “right” or “wrong”. But with so many people in society experiencing life with an external focus of control (allowing external factors to determine a personal sense of “alright-ness”), it’s no wonder so many of us feel overwhelm and confusion about how to live in a world of shifting values.

Morality is ultimately defined by the individual. Even with a lifetime of societal or religious influences, we all have agency to feel good by speaking and acting from integrity. Choosing to develop a spiritual center from which to live, move, and have your being is to live a life of peace and harmony in the midst of a chaotic world.
