Would immortality, if possible, be a blessing or a curse?

We’re not ready for immortality
Toni King, Unity Minister, Unity Center of Reno

Immortality in the physical sense is a great concept for a movie, but at some point I think I’d prefer the sweet release of death. I’ve heard it said the human body could live for 200-300 years were genome scientists able to make a few breakthroughs. Longer and healthier would be great, but I think we have a few things to figure out socially before acquiring the trait of immortality. Afterall, what good would it do to have bodies that can live forever if everyone eventually ends up getting killed in a warzone? Whether it be a curse or a blessing, humanity simply isn’t ready.

Yet, humans already are spiritually immortal. While death doesn’t necessarily hold the keys to heaven, it also isn’t the end of our story. Whether we believe in reincarnation or not, as creations of God, made in Its image, we are divine, eternal beings.

Affirmation: I see only love and speak with its clarity and warmth wherever I go and to whomever I meet.
