What is the purpose of sex: procreation, pleasure, bonding?
Health and Wellbeing
Toni King, Unity Minister, Unity Center of Reno
Evolutionarily, sex promotes the health and wellbeing of the human race through the genetic diversity of our offspring. For the individual, sex has many physical and mental benefits, including boosting the immune system, alleviating pain, and reducing anxiety. But the benefits of a sexual relationship between partners not only encompasses emotional bonding, trust, and intimacy, but reaches the spiritual heights of communion with the Love that we are.
The health and wellbeing derived from sex and sexuality doesn’t stop with the physical, mental, and emotional benefits, nor with the positive effects on humanity as nations expand and diversify. To know oneself through the intimate giving and receiving of the body – a conduit for experiencing God – is a high form of service and an expression of wholeness, holiness. Taking a leap of faith to trust another with your whole being: mind, body, and spirit is being willing to commune with God-in-us.

Lenten Series 2026: Release and Reimagine
Lent is more than a season of preparation for Easter—it is an invitation to transform ourselves. These weeks provide an opportunity to release thoughts that discourage us, habits that hinder us, and beliefs that keep our lives small.
But once we clear away what has been holding us back, how do we move toward our dreams? What uplifting thoughts or habits can we adopt? We can be anything we can imagine! Reimagine What Life Can Be
Rev. Toni King’s lesson: Reimagining the Past
Imagine your life as a winding path through a garden, each flower an expression of the light that you are and the gifts you are here to bring. Let the old forms become fertilizer for the next greater flowering of your life.” — Rev. Jeannemarie Eck
Scripture: We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ. — 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

ANNUAL MEETING
12:15 after a light lunch. All are invited to attend though only members may vote.

Tuesdays, April 7 – 28th, 5:30 – 6:30pm
Meditation
Stephen Jacobs will be hosting a four-part meditation class at the Nevada Museum of Art, located in downtown Reno. This class is open to all levels, but is particularly helpful for anyone that may feel that they do not know how to meditate, or that their mind will never be able to settle down. On these four Tuesdays you will be taught a different technique each week, which you can then take home and use on your own.
